General Information
James Madison University’s Libraries is seeking an Educational Technology Instructor to provide training and resources for JMU-supported educational technologies for online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning environments, design and develop inclusive and accessible training materials for a variety of learning environments, and provide support and assistance in using innovative software and tools. The position is a full-time (40 hour per week), twelve-month classified position, which may occasionally require flexibility in schedule, which may include occasional evening instruction, depending on class schedules.
This position has an initial one-year funding commitment. The position’s renewal/continuance is contingent upon continued funding.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will develop and deliver instructional programs for faculty, staff, and students regarding the use of educational technologies, using a variety of inclusive instructional techniques. The successful candidate will also develop and maintain inclusive and accessible support materials to be used for reference after instruction.
This position will also be expected to consult with faculty members on instructional content creation and identification of tools and solutions to meet teaching and learning needs.
Qualifications
  • Teaching experience and/or expertise, preferably in a higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively in a Mac and PC environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn a variety of software and equipment including web based and client installed programs used for creating websites, editing images, video and other multimedia, online collaboration tools, and classroom technology and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to create effective, accessible and inclusive training outlines and materials.
  • Evidence of providing customer service to a diverse constituency in a professional and positive manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Additional Considerations:
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of tools such as 3D modeling software; 3D printers; vinyl cutters; Arduino; Raspberry Pi; virtual reality; peripherals such as microphones and digital cameras, and other makerspace tools.
  • Experience with educational software such as Canvas, Adobe Creative Cloud Software and Services, Microsoft Office applications, iLife applications.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
