The Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy consists of two schools, the School of Public Policy and Management and the School of Information Systems and Management, and offers an academic experience unlike any other. Heinz College prepares students with a unique ability to conduct careful and objective analysis of relevant data, to understand and demonstrate the power of information technology, and to lead and implement change in managerial and policy contexts.

This leads us to search for a creative, hands-on Educational Technology Associate who will promote and support the effective uses of video, audio, textual, graphical and other electronic media in support of teaching, distance learning, research and administrative purposes. You will also lead efforts and support the university community in integrating audio and video multimedia for curricular, administrative, research, distance learning, special event and outreach use.  This is an exciting opportunity for you to demonstrate a broad knowledge of the field of media and educational technology and to be able to apply it innovatively in a variety of situations.  Reporting to the Associate Director of Educational Technology Services, you will hold a meaningful role in providing counsel on the selection and best use of educational technology to align with course learning objectives.
Core responsibilities include:

  • Researches, evaluates and tests new processes, equipment, and technologies.
  • Collaborates with staff and faculty in generating alternatives to incorporate media and educational technologies in support of curriculum delivery.
  • Supports classroom and/or distance learning initiatives.
  • Proper setup and support of all integrated A/V equipment, Mediasite and Camtasia, as well as Zoom videoconferencing systems and other educational technologies.
  • Timely and accurate troubleshooting of all media technology; advancing issues when appropriate to supervisor.
  • Providing comprehensive end-to-end guidance to faculty in the integration of technology into student learning objectives.
  • Conducting media training for faculty and staff on the use of educational technology tools supported by Heinz College.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

You must demonstrate:

  • Discernible proficiency with electronic media in support of distance learning objectives.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative and innovative problem-solving skills with strong analytical reasoning; strong acumen in identifying problems and appropriate solutions.
  • Sharp interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Proven customer service skills and ability to perform in a customer-focused manner under all circumstances.
  • Composed demeanor when interacting with users or collaborators who may have little technical knowledge to help them understand answers to their questions and problems as well as provide solutions that are easily understood by novice or experienced users/collaborator.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in related field preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Multi-media Production, Audio Visual Equipment Operation, Network Administration, Operating System Administration, Workstation Support, End User Support, and Helpdesk Support required


Licenses or certifications:

  • CTS - Certified Technology Specialists - InfoComm International preferred
