Educational Specialist/Language Instructor, Embry-Riddle Language Institute

The Opportunity:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is hiring an Educational Specialist/Language Instructor in English as a Second Language (ESL) for the Embry-Riddle Language Institute (ERLI), an Intensive English Program at the Daytona Beach campus. ERLI's mission is to provide high quality English language instruction that prepares students to enter and be successful at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University or another U.S. university. ERLI is accredited by CEA. The primary purpose of this position will be teaching, teaching-related administrative duties, advising, and curriculum development.

Responsibilities include:

• Teach all assigned classes at scheduled times. A full load for full-time instructors is four classes during fall, spring, and summer semesters.
• Organize instructional planning according to objectives in the ERLI curriculum
• Oversee the continuous improvement of courses to strengthen their content, to include coverage of all curricula
• Complete and submit syllabi, course plans, diagnostic & final exams, Early & Midterm Alerts, and other required documents by due dates
• Keep attendance records daily online
• Keep grade records and report grades weekly
• Assess student academic progress on an ongoing basis through the use of sufficient and appropriate measures
• Keep office hours and tutor current students as needed
• Provide academic advisement for ERLI students including, but not limited to, help with issues with coursework, academic intervention, and success strategies
• Contribute positively to student success and student service in philosophy, attitude, and performance
• Participate in required faculty meetings.
• Participate in professional development activities as found in the ERLI Faculty Professional Development Policy
• Perform other duties as assigned by the ERLI Director

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree in TESOL or Applied Linguistics
• Comfortable using computer technology for administrative and teaching purposes
• 1 year experience teaching at the college level
• Native or near-native oral and written English fluency

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years experience teaching EFL abroad
• 2+ years experience teaching at an intensive English program
• Experience presenting and/or publishing in TESOL field
• Certificate in TESOL (100+ class hours plus monitored practicum)
• TESOL local or national affiliation
• Bi-lingual
