The Educational Specialist for High Point University’s Department of Physical Therapy is responsible for directly supporting the Department’s Director of Curriculum, Director of Assessment & Outcomes, faculty and students. This person may also be asked to assist as needed in other areas of the department. This position requires exceptional organizational, people and communication skills. This position requires someone with the ability to exercise sound judgment, professional etiquette, tact, and patience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

Experience and Training

  • Experience in  teaching, curricular design, assessment (preferred)
  • Experience in higher education (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Proficiency using various computer platforms and programs, including MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) (required)
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills (required)
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :  

  • Contributes to the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the Department, School, and University
  • Specifically,
    • Supports the Director of Curriculum with:
      • Formatting and maintaining class schedules
      • Scheduling room assignments
      • Registration of DPT students
      • Hiring and onboarding of adjunct faculty, teaching assistants, and graduate assistants
      • Monitoring syllabi for appropriate information

  • Supports the Director of Assessment & Outcomes with:
    • Maintaining TrueLearn Assessments
    • Organizing the administration of Comprehensive Assessments
    • Maintaining and training faculty in ExamSoft
    • Updating NPTE resources
    • Updating and managing cohorts within the FSBPT
    • Engaging alumni and collecting outcomes data

  • Supports Department Faculty with:
    • Helping faculty with BlackBoard
    • Exam proctoring
  • Supports DPT Students with:
    • Organizing the computer loan program
  • Helping with other tasks as assigned by the Department Chair, Director of Curriculum, and Director of Assessment & Outcomes

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Performs all job responsibilities, across all three academic pillars, independently
  • Reports directly to the Director of Curriculum, Director of Assessment & Outcomes, and the Department Chair
