We are looking for someone to join our team as an Education Specialist to support the TRIO’s Upward Bound programs. This position provides programming for first generation, low-income high school students to prepare them for their college experience after graduation.
The Education Specialist is responsible for lead planning, implementing and/or overseeing of the senior high school academic and summer programming for both of the TRIO Upward Bound programs. In addition, provide a series of services and one-on-one contacts to program participants. The position works with high school participants and provides assessment on college preparedness for higher education.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, community services, human development, or related field. Experience and/or training in providing educational learning activities – improve academic performance, organize educational planning, and/or preparation for enrollment in post-secondary education, and/or similar experience considered. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and a record to inclusion. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the needs of first generation low-income and individual differences. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience working with adolescents. Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirement as well as a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and/or training in career exploration, assessments, curriculum, or college preparation. Experience with TRIO or equivalent programs serving low-income populations.
Experience /Knowledge in assisting students with college entrance.
TRIO experience and/or experience working with unrepresented populations.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the needs of first generation low-income and individual differences.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with high school aged youth: experience in working with school staff, and parents/guardians.
Experience driving 12 passenger vans
