Jobs in this career family provide general business operations of the organization or a combination of operational responsibilities covering multiple career families.  Functions include institutional research, statistical analysis, policy development and review, strategic planning and broad unit business operations such as parking and transportation services, risk management, childcare services, real estate and property management, retail services or job responsibilities that combine fiscal, HR and operational management responsibilities.

Principal Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. Work is performed at an advanced or expert level.

Principal Professionals are either work leads over others or are considered a subject matter expert in a particular area.

Position Emphasis:

The Division of Hematology Business Services Principal Professional is responsible for managing educational programs for the division and Supportive Care alliance with the BDCTC.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Education
    • Manage divisions Grand Rounds meetings (September through May), including Grand Rounds schedule, CE paperwork, weekly flyers, maintenance of distribution list, sign-in sheet and records of attendance, scheduling conference rooms, arranging the equipment, and disbursing materials. 
    • Assist faculty with tracking of Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities and educational outreach.
    • Serve as liaison for the Division of Hematology's Educational Committee.
    • Course Coordinator – Hematology Elective
    • Manage new educational initiatives and ongoing activities, including but not limited to ASH Recap, APP Bootcamp, and Hematology Symposia
  • Recruitment and guest speaker management
    • Plan and facilitate events for guest speakers, retreats, recruitment candidates, and division official functions, including applicable travel and expense reconciliation.
  • Supportive Care Alliance
    • Work with division psychology team to create Fellowship program focusing on supportive care
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Serves as the backup for the Business Services Professional position# 00756248
    • Tasks as assigned by Division Administrator

Salary and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $55,357 to $65,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
  • At least two (2) years of experience with educational activities at an academic institution.
  • 3 years of professional level experience.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.

The position requires extensive, diverse and progressively responsible experience, including direct responsibility for educational activities, Supportive care management, and recruitment/guest relations.
