Description

Under the direction of the Director of Surgical Education, you will be responsible for planning and overseeing the daily activities of the residency and fellowship programs as outlined in the ACGME Institutional, Common Program, Specialty Program Guidelines for Graduate Medical Education, and the governing boards. You will serve as the primary liaison between the Residency Program Director, Fellowship Program Director, chief residents, residents, program faculty, Graduate Medical Education Office, affiliated teaching sites, and at national meetings concerning residency program matters. You will also supervise the residents and fellowship coordinators in the Department of Surgery in the Education Office. Salary range: $67400.00-$133400.00 Annual

Qualifications

* Ability to establish and maintain cooperative workingrelationships with students, faculty, housestaff, and community physicians. * Skill in operating a PC including use of software packagessuch as Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and Outlook, and otheronline programs. * Ability to use specialized educational software to recordPowerPoint presentations with audio and complete the video processing of thelectures. * Skill in writing and editing correspondence with correctgrammar, spelling, and punctuation and with speed and accuracy. * Skill in creating print materials such as flyers, brochures,posters and handouts to be viewed by faculty, trainees, community physicians,and the general public with correct grammar and accuracy. * Ability to make oral group presentations to provideinformation and explain policies and procedures. * Skill in coordinating special events by determining place,time, and arranging catering, parking, etc. * Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly in response totelephone inquiries about the programs, conferences, special events andphysician referral. * Knowledge of basic math to compile and construct tables,charts, and graphs. * Skill in operating basic audiovisual equipment, such as LCDprojector, slide projector, * Audience Response System and microphone systems. * Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule, includingoccasional weekend days and evenings, as needed. * Knowledge of University’s Medical Education Systems preferred * Ability to multitask effectively and skill in prioritizingassignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes inworkload and assignments, pressures of deadlines, and/or a heavy workload. * Experience planning and implementing educational programsrelated to trainees. * Skill in coordinating meetings, dinners, lectures, etc. * Ability to speak effectively before groups of residents andstudents for recruitment and orientation purposes. * At least 3 years of experience working with Residents,Fellows and Medical Students. * Working knowledge of University policies andprocedures in regards to the Medical Education Office preferred * Experience in planning and implementing educationalpolicies. * Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations andprocedures to define objectives, identify pattern and formulate conclusions * Skill in verbal communications to clearly convey complexproblems and proposals in both formal and informal situations
