Summary of Position
The Education Department at Keene State College invites applications for a faculty position in Elementary Education and Literacy beginning August 2024. We seek faculty who can work collaboratively with school professionals to prepare socially responsible teachers.
The successful candidate will work with colleagues to teach a range of undergraduate Elementary and Literacy courses that will prepare teacher candidates with the skills and knowledge to enter K-6 classrooms. The teaching load will vary depending on position type and includes 12 credits for tenure-track faculty and 16 credits for clinical faculty, which includes teaching and supervision in the undergraduate Elementary Methods courses, with the remaining credits supporting foundational courses. Inclusive classroom practices with a focus on literacy and social studies pedagogy are central to this position. Collaboration in the areas of teaching, service, and scholarship (required for tenure-track) with colleagues in the department and across the College, as well as with schools in the region, is an integral part of this position.
The College reserves the flexibility to appoint tenure-track or clinical rank dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Candidates for Assistant Professor must hold an earned doctorate in education or related field. ABD near completion will be considered but must be completed by August 1, 2024. An earned master’s degree in education or related field is required for Clinical Faculty.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must have a minimum of five years full-time teaching experience at the elementary level (K-6); strong background in literacy and social studies within and across elementary content areas; demonstration of solid foundation of literacy content knowledge; experience using inclusive practices such as Universal Design for Learning, differentiated instruction, assistive technology, co-teaching, etc.; and experience teaching in an inclusive environment with diverse student populations (examples: SES, students with IEPs and 504 plans, ELL, cultural, and racial/ethnic).
An earned doctorate in Education or related field required for Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Rank . ABD near completion will also be considered but must be completed by August 1, 2024.
An earned Master’s degree in Education or related field required for Clinical Faculty rank.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Public school elementary (K-6) teaching experience.
  • College teaching experience.
  • Collaborative engagement between higher education and public schools.
  • Evidence of research agenda and scholarly activity.
  • Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus.
Salary Information
Salary is based on the prevailing Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement, according to which the rank minimum for a tenure-track Assistant Professor is $75,230. A candidate with a Master’s degree and a consistent record of successful teaching will be hired at the Assistant Clinical Professor level. The rank minimum for an Assistant Clinical Professor is $65,720. Salary is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package and is based on the prevailing Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement. Salary information above reflects Academic Year 2024-2025 rank minimums.

Departmental Information
The Education Department at Keene State College is in the ongoing process of enhancing the curriculum in our program to better prepare our future educators for today’s diverse classrooms. The department utilizes assessments, feedback from the field, and our collective expertise to continually improve and evolve the education program. The Education Department includes both undergraduate and graduate programs in the preparation of teachers. Keene State College holds CAEP accreditation for all educator preparation programs and the elementary education program is currently nationally recognized.
