Position Title Education – Assistant/Associate Professor of School Psychology/School Counseling – Tenure Track
Position Summary
The Dr. Bonnie G. Metcalf School of Education at California Baptist University is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position in School Psychology and School Counseling, starting in August 2024. In response to our growing Pupil Personnel Services (School Psychology and/or School Counseling), we want to add to our dynamic team. The successful candidate for this position should be enthusiastic about being part of developing the next generation of mental health experts that can provide support to children K-12 schools. Preferred expertise in mental health and multiculturalism/diversity within school settings.

The School of Education prepares mental health leaders (School Psychologists and School Counselors) – individuals of high moral character and ethical behavior who are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to create lifelong learners throughout the world with a Biblical foundation.
The successful candidate joins a dedicated interdisciplinary team to strengthen and build educator programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The primary duties will include developing and teaching courses and supervising student field experiences within the School Psychology and School Counseling programs. Other duties include engaging in research and service through the university and community, including, but not limited to assessment and curriculum development and participation in university and school committees. Candidates must embrace the mission of California Baptist University and evidence a clear understanding of and commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, as well as the integration of Christian faith into their work.
Pay Range
The compensation for this appointment will range from $75,000-$90,000 annually and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this faculty appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of employee benefits.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
● Earned Ph.D/PsyD./Ed.D. in School Psychology and/ or School Counseling or related field (ABD candidates will be considered)
  • Evidence of PPS certification (CTC) in School Psychology and/or Counseling.

● Relevant mental health experience with K – 12 students
● Evidence of expertise in psychoeducational assessment, counseling, positive behavior interventions, restorative practices, multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), nondiscriminatory assessment practices, consultation with parents and teachers, research, and program evaluation.
● Demonstrated or potential for excellence in teaching, research, and service to the university and profession
● Ability to teach students across a wide diversity of cultures and ages.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of effective and innovative teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level
  • Evidence of research agenda and scholarly activity
  • Evidence of obtaining National Certification in School Psychology (NCSP).
Teaching Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities will be in undergraduate, graduate, and credential courses. Teaching load will be across 3 semesters within the School of Education.
