The University of Virginia Police Department seeks applications for the role of Police Services Operator. The Police Services operator provides security, safety and community services to University employees, students, and visitors. They answer non-emergency calls for assistance and provide dispatch services for UVA Security Officers in the Medical Center and across the University Grounds. Services operators provide support in data entry and maintenance of information across multiple computer systems, pulling information for the University of Virginia Police Department. They work closely with Officers to test police services equipment and operate a variety of communications equipment including radio consoles, telephones, and computer systems.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- At least four years of customer service or administrative work experience
- Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certification
- Possess a Valid Virginia Driver's License with a positive points balance or the ability to receive a Virginia Driver's License in the first 90 day of employment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Applicants must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft office products
- Preference will be given to applicants with an Associate's Degree and/or have working knowledge of database management
Candidates will be required to complete a background check and drug screen before a formal offer of employment will be made per University policy.
The starting salary for this position is $31,200 ($15.00/ hour)
**Shift differential paid for the evening and overnight shifts.
