The Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate sports, comprised of 14 women’s and 10 men’s programs, that compete at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the prestigious Big Ten Conference, the nation’s premier academic and athletic conference, after officially joining the league on July 1, 2014. Known as “The Birthplace of College Football, Rutgers hosted Princeton on Nov. 6, 1869 in the first intercollegiate football game, with RU earning a 6-4 victory.

Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Edit/Media Assistant for Rutgers Athletics. Under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director for Brand Advancement and Assistant Athletic Director for Brand Advancement, Multimedia, this position collaborates with staff, develops ideas and lead production of new/original video content within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics with a focus on women’s basketball. This position provides production and post-production support for Creative Services and Marketing, editing sizzle reels, features and promos.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
• Responsible for interpreting needs, developing concepts, directing and producing feature stories, in-game promotional content, unique social media content and game highlight footage across all women’s basketball platforms including digital or broadcast channels, video boards, website and social media.
• Serves as lead videographer and editor to help drive the creative vision for the women’s basketball team and ensure that vision aligns with the team’s ongoing brand strategy.
• Contributes to production of athletic department video content outside of women’s basketball.
• Collaborates with Marketing/Creative Services to develop content.
• Liaisons with IMG marketing to ensure sponsorships are promoted and displayed correctly according to contracts.
• Leads Brand Advancement’s animated content production.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, broadcasting, communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience working in a NCAA Division I Athletic Department. Experience in EFP/remote sports production, equipment setup and troubleshooting.
• Solid grasp of all things technical.
• Experience with cinema-style cameras and lenses.
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop. Ability to work under time constraints and meet assigned deadlines.
• Ability to operate under tight windows.
• Ability to digest and prioritize tasks in order of importance to deliver results, while staying up-to-date on the latest basketball and marketing trends and industry changes.
• Ability to conceptualize, design and create video materials with an understanding of specific audiences (i.e. prospective student-athletes, teams, coaching staffs, or public).
.• Ability to perform duties with the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior and in accordance with University, Departmental, Big Ten or other affiliated Conference and NCAA regulations, policies and procedures.
• Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.

Equipment Utilized

• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop. Regular use of cinema-style cameras, most notably the Sony FS7. Daily use of EditShare content management system.
