Under general supervision, the FIXED DURATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR will address the ongoing education, screening and vaccination efforts against Covid-19 in immigrant and refugee communities for children, pregnant women and adults. This position will also assist ongoing efforts in refugee resettlement at Harborview Medical Center through a number of its current programs in Interpreter Services, Medicine, Obstetrics/ Gynecology, and Pediatrics.

This is a grant funded position expected to end in May of 2024

This position is funded in a partnership between the Office of Refugee and Immigrant Affairs, DSHS (Olympia) and Harborview Medical Center (Seattle).

The position will develop materials for education in multiple languages using video or audio, case assessments and navigation in special situations;

Advise various clinical programs on refugee-related interventions and activities;

Cooperate and collaborate with ethnic Community Health Boards on Covid-19 related outreach, potential field deployment for vaccination or education efforts;

Represent Harborview Medical Center at Refugee Forum, New Arrivals Working Group and similar activities to advise EDI on current Afghan, Ukrainian and other refugee initiatives; and

Work on special projects identified by EDI Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty

OR

Equivalent education/experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Extensive experience (2+ years) working and teaching in refugee and immigrant communities in direct case management, in leadership positions in voluntary agencies singly focused on helping refugee and immigrant clients (for example: International Rescue Committee, World Relief, Jewish Family Services), in local, county or state department efforts in refugee and immigrant affairs or in ethnic health boards; Strong writing, speaking, presentation and organizational skills; Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment; and Skills with MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience partnering with health institutions/departments at state, county, local level for refugee screening, complex case management, or program development; Native level fluency in a language other than English and keen understanding of the challenges of education through interpretation, translation and cultural mediation; Significant working experience with clients/ patients with limited English proficiency; Master’s level in health-related field.
