Description
The School of Renewable Natural Resources at Louisiana State University is seeking four (4) experienced field technicians to assist a research project evaluating Eastern wild turkey reproductive ecology in West Louisiana and East Texas. Field work is centered around Ft. Polk and adjacent public land. We are seeking three field technicians to help with data collection in Louisiana and one in Texas. Primary responsibilities will include rocket net setup, turkey capture and handling, radio-telemetry, habitat sampling, nest investigation, and data management. Often this involves long days, long nights, and a flexible schedule. This will involve some teamwork and a lot of independent work. The position will begin on January 2nd, 2023 to help with capture and nesting and will last for 6 months. Salary for field technician will be $1900/month. Qualifications
Preferred Experience: • Animal capture and tagging • Radio telemetry and wildlife tracking • Vegetation sampling • Driving an ATV and trailer • Cooperating with landowners and state agency personnel • Working odd hours and a flexible schedule • Working as a team and independently Required Qualifications: • B.S. in Biology or a related field or working to acquire a degree • Valid U.S. license • Driving a 4WD vehicle
