Job Description

Early Childhood Teaching Assistant 1 functions as a Child Care Assistant to provide supervision, and physical and emotional care of children of participants of the Moms2B program, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology; provides child care services of program participant children including feeding; assists with preparing and distributing healthy snacks; plans and supervises social, physical and educational activities to ensure that the child's needs are being met; oversees and maintains toys and educational equipment for the classroom, and replaces broken or unsafe materials; cleans classroom or activity rooms to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment; assists program team members with planning and implementation of daily activities and lesson plans; sets up and organizes room and equipment; assists with completion of required paperwork; evaluates response of children and outcome of activities and provides feedback to program team.

Minimum Education Required

Per Classified Civil Svc Specs or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications

Per CCS Requirements; High school diploma or equivalent; at least 1 course or (100 hours) work experience in child development and/or early childhood education; associate's degree in child development desired; experience working in a classroom or similar setting with children 6 years of age or younger desired; subject to Bureau of Criminal Investigation check; current first aid, communicable disease, and child abuse recognition certification required and/or training within 120 days of employment. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
