Summary of Job Duties:

The Early Childhood Education Consultant is a highly specialized professional who serves as a trainer and consultant to early childcare education administrators, providers, and community partners. This position will plan, develop and oversee the implementation of early childhood trauma informed education programs in the Department of Family and Preventative Medicine (DFPM) in partnership with a DFPM faculty member. These programs include Trauma-Informed early care and education initiatives and Trauma-Informed Schools initiatives. This position will contribute to program design, content development, training protocols, and training delivery and will also assist in writing narrative and data reports to funders.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education, early childhood development, public health, counseling, social work, or other social science fields plus five (5) years of experience in the delivery of early childhood education services required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient skills in PowerPoint, Outlook, Word processing, and Excel. 

  • Experience in training teams on mental health and/or trauma-related topics.

  • Knowledgeable of trauma-specific interventions for educational settings.

  • Valid Driver’s license.

  • Candidates may be located statewide or regionally.

  • Travel within the State of Arkansas is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education, early childhood development, public health, counseling, social work, or other social science field.

  • Experience providing trauma-informed programming using the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) frameworks.

  • Experienced in building positive and professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience in training adult learners.

  • Knowledge of the early childhood education system in AR.


    Additional Information:

    Responsibilities:

    • Develops, updates, maintains, and disseminates education and protocols for programs that meet funding requirements as well-established best practices.

    • Ensures consultation and trauma training services are consistent throughout the state. Implements and develops fidelity and quality assurance measures.

    • Maintains awareness of current professional information in the fields of activity, undertakes regular and ongoing efforts to maintain competencies in the skills used and incorporates new knowledge and skills on the job.

    • Enhances two-way communication and interacts with early childhood education program directors, team members, contractors, staff, participants and the community to build productive, collaborative relationships to support the achievement of service goals.

    • Prepares documents and reports for stakeholders and funders.

    • Develops and/or recommends activities/services/trainings that will enhance the department’s programs and services.

    • Facilitates outreach and/or training events for education professionals and other groups for purposes of engagement into training processes.

    • Develops and delivers community training on early childhood trauma, its impacts on children, evidence-based intervention and trauma-informed care for various stakeholders in the community including education professionals, state agencies, nonprofit organizations, educational entities, and other state partners.

    • Provides training, consultation and technical assistance on trauma-informed education initiative to agency staff, contracting personnel, and other professionals as needed.

    • Demonstrates good presentation, public speaking skills, and techniques through participation in staff meetings, community meetings, workshops, conferences and other meetings as requested by supervisor.

    • Acts as a liaison to regional and state partners for the purpose of advocating for and development of services that are prevention/early-intervention oriented, culturally sensitive, community-based, and family-centered.

    • Utilizes data to enhance knowledge and understanding of trends, changes, and service performance of both the local and program-wide level to ensure quality programming to make recommendations based on analysis of program and community data.

    • Works with partner agencies to develop and implement effective programs for educators and staff. 

    • Performs other duties as assigned.
