Job Summary
The Early Academic Outreach Coordinator’s ( EAOP) primary responsibility Involves planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs, activities, counseling, tutoring and advising focused on students' successful graduation from high school and career readiness. The EAOP Coordinator will work with students, program alumni, teachers, counselors, school districts, community stakeholders and parents, and will provide college advising and educational opportunities such as field trips and campus visits to students and parents in partner schools. In addition, the coordinator will implement citywide events and summer programs, and has the responsibility to keep records of the numbers and demographics of students, teachers, and parents served in all of these efforts.

Department Description
The UCSF Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) is housed in the Center for Science, education and Outreach (CSEO), which is a unit within in the Office of Diversity and Outreach. Since 1999, The Center for Science Education and Outreach has provided programs and services that lead to student academic success, increased college-going rates and exploration of various STEM careers for the students and schools we serve.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related are with 3 to 5 yrs. experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 + years of experience working with educational equity programs serving a diverse student population.
- Knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts
- Demonstrated cultural competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status
- Strong communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Significant experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers
- Demonstrate organizational and program coordination skills, including the ability to set priorities and work on several projects simultaneously
- Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
- Must be available for some evening and weekend activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of up-to-date information on K-12 and higher education policies and issues. Ability to assess their impact on program strategies
- Knowledge of youth and adolescent development theory, including issues facing low-income, first generation urban youth
- Strong knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements
