Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Dudley E. Flood Endowed Distinguished Chair position is a tenure-track, 9-month appointment for an exceptional criminal justice scholar to start in January 2024 or August 2024. The successful candidate is expected to serve as a faculty and student mentor and to raise the visibility, quality, and productivity of scholarship, teaching, and service within the department and the university.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Distinguished Chair must exhibit initiative, enthusiasm, and teamwork in accomplishing the following responsibilities:
Seek and develop grants and proposals designed to support the priorities of the unit; Contribute to faculty and student development by participating in meaningful collaborative projects; Teach one to two courses per semester (depending on productivity) in support of the undergraduate and graduate programs; Contribute to the furtherance of the university’s strategic priorities in service throughout the community, region, and world.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • An earned Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice. Area of specialization is open.
  • The candidate must have credentials to qualify for tenure at the rank of full professor.
  • The Endowed Chair will be expected to come with their own strong research agenda and be willing to expand the quantity and quality of scholarship, teaching, and service within the Department of Criminal Justice.
