Overview

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.

The Donor Services Manager will manage the Advancement Services team's internal and external customer service operations, with a primary focus on providing exceptional donor stewardship and maintaining the integrity of donor data. Ensure the efficient handling of incoming requests, the accurate processing of gifts, and the timely resolution of donor inquiries, as well the NYU staff inquiries. Leverage expertise in donor relations, philanthropy, accounting, NYU university-wide operations, CASE guidelines, and IRS requirements to enhance the organization's fundraising efforts. Employ analytical methods, database tools, and various university owned platforms and portals to analyze, investigate, and safeguard highly sensitive and confidential donor data, contributing to the overall success of the fundraising initiatives. Manage Advancement Services customer service offering. Support donor stewardship efforts and data quality. Utilize analytical methods to enhance donor engagement and service. Adhere to university-wide procedures and streamline processes for all customers.

Responsibilities

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience:
5+ years experience in a fundraising operation, preferably in a complex higher education environment

Experience serving in a customer service related role for a large complex organization with direct customer related interactions, or a combination of education and experience
Preferred Experience:
In depth knowledge and experience in a fundraising Stewardship capacity preferred
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Advanced computer skills required (including a working knowledge of development and financial systems, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)

Comprehensive understanding of CASE guidelines and IRS guidelines for receipting tax-deductible contributions

Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities, ability to interpret and evaluate policy and procedural requirements and produce and analyze data; effective written and oral communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills

Excellent presentation skills

Must be results driven and possess the ability to think strategically to make independent decisions that will impact the process of major gift processing for the University

Must be able to work under the pressure of time and frequent requests from multiple sources each having their own timelines and constraints and with all levels of academic and administrative staff

Extensive knowledge of functionality of the University Donor Database to ensure accurate recording and reporting of major fundraising revenue

Excellent email and verbal communication
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards

Thorough knowledge of University policies and procedures


Qualifications

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $80,000.00 to USD $100,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
