Donor Relations & Stewardship Communications Associate

 Develops, implements, and supports programs and policies across the integrated  Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement to build lifelong relationships that support and enhance fundraising and active audience engagement. Provides stewardship for annual, leadership, major, and principal gift donors and supports a standardized communication strategy for recognition of smaller gift donors. Writes individualized communications  plans and executes meetings and events that advance donor engagement and involvement.  
The University of Pittsburgh’s Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) cultivates relationships with contributors, alumni, and other constituents on behalf of the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC, generating support for teaching, research, and care. Responsible for providing first stewardship touch to donors through acknowledgment letters by managing the process of producing personalized acknowledgment correspondence for the Chancellor, Senior Vice Chancellor, Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE), Provost, Senior Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences, and UPMC senior leadership that is required from the Division of PAE. Responsibilities include: obtaining and researching accurate information from all sources for creation of acknowledgments, actual writing of acknowledgments, timely approval by appropriate constituent parties and regular interaction with all key stakeholders in the process. May be responsible for printing, obtaining signatures and mailing letters. The Associate will also prepare custom stewardship impact pieces to donors on the impact of their philanthropy. The Communications Associate will provide scripted bullets and may draft remarks for specific donor relations & stewardship events, tailored to the audience and specific topic to be covered. The position will also regularly update the Affinaquest database and ensure the integrity of the data entered and reviewed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organization, prioritization, and project management skills are required for this position, as well as the ability to demonstrate strong teamwork and technical ability. Must be able to consistently meet pressing deadlines. Maintaining strong relationships with all divisions and executive staff to complete various projects is essential.

Essential Functions • Must be able to regularly move about inside the office to access cabinets, office equipment, etc. • Must be able to travel to locations outside of the office independently, without physical assistance. • Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds. • Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (e.g., copier, fax machine). • Must be able to sit for prolonged durations • Must have vision correctable to a level where an individual can operate a computer, visualize text on a computer monitor.
Physical Effort Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
