Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship, the Donor Experience Senior Associate works with the donor relations team and supports the College of Engineering (COE) by creating opportunities for donors to see the impact of their philanthropy. They will manage all aspects of several important areas, including: the COE's gift acknowledgment process, hosting of engineering donors at Ohio State athletic events, custom stewardship pieces for individual donors, including personalized videos and VIP and loyal donor milestone recognitions (birthdays, anniversaries, giving anniversaries etc.).

The Senior Associate will require strong collaboration, communication skills (written and verbal) and customer service skills while maintaining a high level of confidentiality as it pertains to knowledge about our donor base. They must be detail-oriented and able to interpret and present data; be highly motivated, driven, and skilled in managing and organizing their work and time which will include occasional evening and weekend work and event support. This position is expected to be familiar with and able to utilize MS Office programs.

This position is a member of the Donor Relations unit within the Engineering Advancement team. Donor Relations is responsible for all gift acknowledgement, required stewardship and scholarship stewardship activities with the Engineering Advancement team. Donor Relations also provides internal support to the Development team to increase their efficiency in working with internal partners at the University Foundation. 

Duties and Responsibilities

40% Gift Acknowledgement

Manages a targeted and multi-faceted gift acknowledgement program to include comprehensive biweekly memo of major gift transactions for the Dean, custom letters from department and program leaders for leadership annual gifts, comprehensive first-time donor acknowledgement and tailored acknowledgement for special annual giving initiatives.

30% Donor Gratitude and Appreciation

Leads efforts to show gratitude and appreciation to donors, including custom impact pieces, recognition of personal milestones (birthdays, anniversaries) and customized video messages from development staff and giving beneficiaries at COE. Produces impact pieces as needed.

15% Donor Entertainment

Manages donor entertaining, including all coordination for Ohio State athletic competitions.

10% Events and Activities

Assists with all donor gratitude initiatives and events, including Thank Your Scholarship Donor Day and Scholarship Luncheon.

5% Other Duties

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 2 years of professional experience in customer relations or volunteer management or institutional advancement/development.

  • Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends

  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite (primarily Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Ability to write for an external audience, including proof-reading and editing to ensure the highest quality in written communications

  • Experience in donor relations and stewardship

  • Experience in higher education

  • Experience working with and reporting on advancement data

  • Proficiency with CRM databases

The pay range for this job profile is $49,800 - $66,400 (min - mid). The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
