This is a senior, supervisory position charged with leading all elements of donor acquisition and retention for the Hamilton Fund, one of the top performing college annual giving programs in the US. Working as part of the leadership team with the Director of Annual Giving and the Senior Associate Director of Leadership Giving, the Program Director will be responsible for donor growth, setting strategy and directing key programs. They will be charged with managing and expanding the Class Committee program, actively mobilizing alumni volunteers in peer-to-peer solicitation on behalf of the Hamilton Fund. The Director will supervise, develop and mentor two Hamilton Fund team members (a class manager and GOLD) and a team of student interns. 

This is an exempt position with a pay range of $90,000 - $100,000.

They will be responsible for:

  • Formulating and executing the donor-acquisition and retention strategy aimed at returning Hamilton to 50% alumni participation;
  • Building and expanding volunteer engagement through a peer-to-peer class management program for reunion and non-reunion classes, including directly managing 5-10 classes;
  • Using data analytics tools to track, analyze and report on donor growth and development;
  • Leading key programs and operations including Give Days, Athletics fundraising, the Chapel Bell recurring giving program and donor stewardship, GOLD Group Programs, Senior Gift Campaign and Student Philanthropy;
  • Directing the student intern program
  • Managing a portfolio of alumni and prospects with demonstrated giving history and annual potential of $1,000 to the Hamilton Fund
  • Manage staff in their work delivering against the programs outlined above, and mentoring their professional development.
  • Responsibilities

    • Donor strategy:
      • Under the direction of the Director, Annual Giving, develop strategies to increase alumni participation in giving to the College.
      • Use internal and vendor tools to track and report progress.
    • Volunteer and class management 
      • Build and expand the class committee volunteer program, enrolling, training and directing class committee volunteers
      • Work with Hamilton Fund and the Alumni Council Leadership
      • Manage the Give Campus volunteer platform
    • Lead key program execution and operations 
      • Give Days
      • Athletics Fundraising
      • Chapel Bell Recurring Giving Society
      • Donor stewardship
      • GOLD Group Programs
      • Senior Gift/Student Philanthropy
    • Donor portfolio management 
      • Maintain a solicitation and engagement portfolio of alumni donor prospects with demonstrated giving history and potential of $1,000 annually, with accountability for increased dollar performance.
      • Travel 4-5 times each year to cultivate and solicit assigned prospects.
    • Staff management and development
      • Supervise and develop the Development Assistant and team of student interns in their work executing the donor strategy and retention, particularly volunteer management, student philanthropy, student phone-a-thons, recurring giving and athletics fundraising.
    • Other duties as may be assigned.
