Job Summary
OSU-Cascades is seeking a combination position of a Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Director and a Clinical Associate Professor. The incumbent will hold two appointments, a 0.75 FTE, 12-month, professional faculty appointment as Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Director and a 0.25 FTE, 12-month, fixed-term Associate Clinical Professor position.

The DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) Program Director will be responsible for the overall development, planning, direction, and management of the DPT program at OSU-Cascades. The Program Director will provide visionary academic and operational leadership, plan and manage the DPT program to include curriculum development, facility planning and preparation, and comply with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education’s (CAPTE) standards.
Primary responsibilities of the position include providing effective leadership, including faculty mentoring and evaluation, program development, programmatic fiscal management, program assessment activities, curriculum management, student advising, and admissions activities. In addition, as a member of the faculty, the Program Director is expected to teach in his/her area of expertise, engage in scholarship, and participate in service to the College, University and the community.

Key Responsibilities
Program Administration – 60%
  • Work with the Senior Associate Dean to lead the DPT faculty and development team in strategic planning, implementation and further the program’s mission in teaching, research, and service.
  • Recruit and retain highly qualified faculty, students, and staff.
  • Ensure that the program meets the education needs of its students and professional development of faculty and staff.
  • Mentor, manage, and supervise faculty and staff.
  • Develop faculty.
  • Oversee faculty promotion dossier development.
  • Plan and manage fiscal resources.
  • Support collaborative and inter-professional education and service activities among faculty and students.
  • Provide oversight of day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure program accreditation with respect to CAPTE Standards.
  • Develop and oversee development of curriculum.
  • Provide leadership to the DPT program in scholarly and research efforts.
  • Manage CAPTE accreditation process and annual reporting.
  • Supervise program assessment.
  • Oversee DPT admissions process.
  • Oversee management of clinical internship sites.

Teaching – 25%
  • Teaching/facilitating in one or more content areas.

Research & Scholarship– 10%
  • Research, scholarship, mentoring students and oversight of DPT research program.

Service – 5%
  • Service to OSU-Cascades and/or the College and University. Participate in professional service activities.

What You Will Need
  • A terminal academic doctoral degree from an accredited university
  • A Physical Therapist who is licensed or regulated in any United States jurisdiction and is eligible or holds an Oregon PT license.
  • Current working knowledge of CAPTE accreditation requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in higher education.
  • 5 years of full-time higher education experience or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years in a DPT educational program.
  • Has the qualifications to hold the rank of clinical associate professor within their academic discipline at Oregon State University.
  • Experience working with graduate level curriculum development and assessment.
  • Strong communication and collaborative abilities.
  • Proven experience actively engaging in professional and/or community service activities.
  • Evidence of an established research agenda.
  • Experience with DPT Program recruitment and admissions.
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills and a vision for excellence.
  • Experience, education, and/or training that broadens capacity to work with underrepresented/underserved students, staff, faculty, and external audiences.
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
  • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
