The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Surgery in the Division of Pediatric Surgery, are actively seeking a full-time faculty member for the position of Division Chief.

The Division Chief of Pediatric Surgery provides administrative and clinical leadership for the division in alignment with the enterprise mission, vision, values, and goals. The Division Chief collaborates with many stakeholders including, but not limited to: division physicians, researchers, and clinicians; the Department Chair; physician leadership including other department chairs and division chiefs, the Chief Medical Officer, the Chief of Medical Staff, etc.; the division administrator; hospital executives, administrators, functions, and departments; hospital and medical group staff; leadership and administrators of the Saban Research Institute; the designated institutional official and teaching administration; administrators at USC and the Keck School of Medicine. The Division Chief is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Chair of the Department with approval of the hospital’s President and CEO.

The Division of Pediatric Surgery is committed to excellence and innovation for children who come to the hospital, as well as for children who come to any of several satellite surgical offices that serve a broad geographic territory from the San Fernando Valley to the San Gabriel Valley and beyond.

Highlights of the Division of Pediatric Surgery include:

  • One of the busiest surgical oncology programs nationally.
  • A robust multidisciplinary colorectal clinic, and strong minimally invasive surgery program.
  • In conjunction with perinatology, neonatal medicine and the full spectrum of sub-specialty expertise, a fetal medicine program and a large ECMO program.
  • Strong vascular anomalies program
  • Serves LA county with a Level 1 trauma program and a simulation program in a newly renovated facility.
  • A strong program dedicated to optimization of pain management and early surgical recovery.
  • Training 1 fellow per year with a strong cadre of rotating residents from surrounding institutions; education is a priority.

Central to the Division’s focused research is the Developmental Biology Program, housed in The Saban Research Institute at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
