George Mason University’s Human Resources & Payroll department Talent Acquisition team seeks a Diversity & Compliance Specialist – Talent Acquisition, who will ensure the university’s recruitment efforts comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies and goals/initiatives regarding diversity.

Position Summary:
 

Manages OFCCP, EEO, and other Diversity related HR compliance tasks.

  • Utilize Mason’s applicant tracking system (PeopleAdmin) applicant pool data to provide detailed analysis and downstream goals and guidance. Provide data analysis and submission as part of AAPs for each campus (minorities and women, IWD, Veterans, etc., for Fairfax, Prince William and Arlington campuses);
  • Provide strategic support and guidance regarding Diversity, Affirmative Action and EEO data. Provide strategic subject matter analysis and guidance around Diversity, Affirmative Action and EEO data;
  • Create and present AAP and diversity related material for meetings and trainings to coincide with strategic objectives of Talent Acquisition and Diversity Outreach;
  • Enter and audit data for record keeping and reporting to meet relevant guidelines ensuring university-wide compliance initiatives are met, to include appropriate disposition codes are selected, search documentation that ensures equitable search practices, EEO data, and other data as required;
  • Work with respective parties to monitor and champion diversity ERGs;
  • Oversee department/schools/units AAP recruitment materials; and
  • May require speaking with AVP, VP, and deans regarding underutilization goals for their positions and providing strategic guidance on how to advertise on diverse sites and consider advancing diverse candidates through the recruitment process.

 
Advise, facilitate, and support with diversity recruitment and outreach efforts.

  • Provide strategic guidance regarding diversity outreach efforts, including sourcing, online sites, networking, and other initiatives to increase diversity outreach;
  • Serve on search committees as diversity outreach representative providing guidance, oversight, and support;
  • Create and maintain contacts with diversity organizations in the DMV to facilitate, collaborate, and create shared strategic objectives in support of Mason’s diversity outreach initiatives; 
  • Develop working relationships with Mason’s DEI teams, (LGBTQ, DIWB with Provost Office, university Chief Diversity Officers/Champions), other department/unit’s DEI teams;
  • Create articles for the HR and Payroll Newsletter to celebrate DEI for days like: Asian History Month, Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage month, LGBTQ, Military spouse day, PurpleUp, etc.;
  • Respond to DEI inquiries and questions; and
  • Conducts diversity outreach efforts.

 
Certified Applicant Pool program coordination and implementation support.

  • Gather and analyze certified applicant pool information, interpret results, and make recommendations to the committee chairs and hiring authorities as needed; and
  • Work with department/unit Talent Equity Advisors for Certified Applicant Pool analysis to provide training on how to interpret the data and how to present it to the search committee or hiring authority.

 
Administrative diversity TA/HR tasks.

  • Keep abreast of industry DEI terms, government regulations, requirements, current DEI guidance, and university goals and initiatives, and provide strategic guidance as needed; and
  • Provide analysis and HR support to Talent Acquisition team as needed.

 
Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in: Affirmative Action Planning, EEOC/OFCCP data analysis, EEO or OFCCP compliance, administration, and project support; 
  • Related human resources experience (3+ years preferred);
  • Some customer service experience (2+ years preferred);
  • Working knowledge of data management and analysis of moderate complexity;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate respectfully, clearly, effectively and, tactfully with a diverse constituency of varying levels within the organization;
  • Detail-oriented, organized and able to accommodate various communication styles;
  • Able to communicate effectively in English (oral and in writing);
  • Flexible and adaptable;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and to a diverse population;
  • Ability to establish and maintain trust, rapport and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to productively participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals;
  • Ability to manage highly sensitive information;
  • Proficiency in usage of basic technological tools including laptops/computers, email, phones, and internet;
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel; and  
  • Demonstrated skills with online software tools including video meeting/conferencing platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 – 2 years of higher education experience.
