Dist Dir-Partners In Ed (PIE)

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to VC of Legislative and Community Affairs, the District Director - Partners in Education Program is responsible for administering the Partners in Education (PIE) Program, implementing the program’s processes and procedures and overseeing its day to day operations to ensure the effective implementation of the partnership agreement.  Works in coordination with District management and CHA program managers to ensure program’ s objective and goals of providing CHA residents with educational and training opportunities are achieved.  Performs related duties as required

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Plans program activities and implements processes to ensure effective execution of partnership agreement including facilitating enrollment; tracking of student progress; reporting compliance; distribution of student vouchers; and submission of invoices to CHA for reimbursement of costs.
  • Manage the CHA Learn and Earn Program providing recent graduates of Chicago Public Schools with an opportunity in CCC’s Summer Start program; secures commitment from colleges and outside agencies to provide services to program participants.
  • Serves as liaison to CHA and other outside agencies to provide services to program participants and to ensure compliance with program policies and guidelines.
  • Monitors the programs operating budget and assist in annual preparation of the budget for the fiscal year. Serve as a liaison with CHA representative and participates in meetings regarding the program’s budget and its operations.   
  • Oversees staff conducting information session to provide an overview of the PIE program, eligibility requirements, and financial assistance available through the program to prospective students. Creates schedule of information session dates for calendar year and makes available to CHA.  
  • Participates in informing prospective students on available degree and certificate programs including career pathways, student support services including educational guidance and counseling, and CCC’s expectation of students’ commitment towards success and completion.
  • Provides information on special services to prospective students in need of additional assistance with literacy services to increase their reading, math, and communication skills.
  • Ensures participants meet with academic advisors to are provided with a Guided Pathways to Success (GPS) educational plan providing a course sequence for program completion.
  • Assists prospective participants in completing appeals to CHA for special requests and the denial of financial assistance by CHA; coordinates submission of appeals to CHA.
  • Supervises staff engaged in carrying out the day to day activities and operations of the program including reviewing financial aid and preparing vouchers to meet unmet costs, tracking the progress of students; and supporting the summer program at multiple colleges.
  • Accountable for the submission of detailed monthly invoices to the CHA for reimbursement of tuition, books, and other allowable costs under the partnership agreement.
  • Utilizes CHA system to maintain and track program data including information session attendance, outreach, enrollment status, students’ progress, costs, and other specified metrics.
  • Prepares monthly reports on program utilization and outcomes including program retention and completion, transfer, and tracking of placements in employment opportunities.
  • Supports reporting and data management across CHA and CCC systems in coordination with CHA program manager.  Maintains files of program participants for use in program evaluation.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Five years of work experience in administering a program(s) for a non-profit, social services, government, or educational organization
  • A combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration based on an applicant’s credentials, provided the minimum degree requirement is met
  • Knowledge of CCC programs and student support services
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well within a culturally diverse environment
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
