Dispatcher-Weekends Only (7am-3pm)

Our Public Safety Department is in search for a Long Term Temporary employee (weekends only; 7 am - 3 pm).
Operates a Public Safety Department Dispatch Center to provide for the protection of University property, University students, visitors, patients and personnel and their property.  
Typical duties include: 
•    Continuously monitors alarms and dispatching systems;
•    Dispatches Officers to areas according to needs or in an emergency in accordance with established procedures;
•    Follows established procedures in making outside calls to fire, police, etc.; 
•    Answers telephone and radio calls; 
•    Maintains Security logs, journals and/or files/electronic records;
•    Assists in orientating and training new dispatchers
Shift:  Weekends Only (Saturday and Sunday); 7 am - 3 pm

Please note, this position is non-benefit eligible.
 

 


Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent;
1-2 years' related experience; CCTV computer program experience preferred;
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite to include Word and Outlook;
Ability to use and operate a multi phone line
 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Demonstrate professionalism;
Strong customer service skills;
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions preferred;
Ability to react calmly during emergency and/or stressful situations;
Skill in respectful, tactful, and sensitive interaction with individuals who are diverse in their cultures, language groups and abilities;
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, in English (verbal and written)
