Job Summary

The duration is approximately six months.  There are three openings; all are part-time shifts (less than 40 hours per week).

The responsibility of the Hospitality Services Department Dispatcher is to monitor, manage and maintain the efficient work flow of the Patient Bed Board and the coordination of daily and discharge cleaners of patient rooms, and related service work requests utilizing the appropriate software programs.

The Dispatcher must be competent with the use of computer software, pagers, radios, and the telephone in carrying out their duties. Must have good communication and telephone etiquette skills, and be able to problem solve and resolve issues as they occur. The Dispatcher also performs discharge room related duties as required. Other related duties as assigned.

The part-time shifts will include a combination of the following:

Sunday: 7am-3:30pm,     3pm-11:30pm
Monday: 7am – 3:30pm
Tuesday: 7am - 9am  
Wednesday: 7am - 9am  
Thursday: 7am - 9am  
Friday: 7am - 9am  
Saturday: 3pm-11:30pm

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

Department Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.


Required Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or equivalent work related experience
2. Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written.
3. Ability to work effectively within a diverse team environment.
4. Ability to satisfactorily perform job duties as defined in the job description.
5. Willingness to be taught/learn new skills.
6. Ability to carry out duties of first responder in emergency situations. .
7. Proficient software & computer skills.
8. Possess organizational and communication skills and demonstrates the ability to prioritize duties and responsibilities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of one year recent high volume call center, customer service or dispatching experience.
  • APeX experience.
