Position Summary

Receives and screens incoming calls for emergency services and non-emergency services; monitors alarm systems i.e. fire panels, intrusion alarms, temperature alarm, code blues, panic alarms and security cameras.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Obtains all applicable information required to initiate a dispatch of services. Prioritizes calls to coordinate and initiate a response for service.
  • Manages flow of incident related information to/from field units to include monitoring location and/or status of field personnel.
  • Coordinates emergency services response from outside agencies such as Albuquerque Police, Bernalillo and/or Sandoval Sheriff Departments, Rio Rancho Public Safety Department, and/or Fire Departments and other emergency services providers determined to be necessary or as directed by the shift supervisor, Deputy Chief or Chief of Security.
  • Dispatches additional internal and external resources as needed or requested i.e. elevator repair, maintenance services, serves as a liaison with the company and caller.
  • Resets alarm systems, provides notification and reports problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Prepares and distributes incident reports and provides training to new employees.
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties, including filing of reports, maintenance of logs of all applicable radio information, alarm activity and other recording equipment located in dispatch.
  • Maintains updated on-call lists.
  • Updates and manages key inventory to include issuing keys to applicable staff, ensuring the return of issued keys on a daily basis.
  • Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of dispatch or related experience.
  • This position requires a valid unrestricted Driver's License.
  • Candidates must successfully complete the New Mexico Department of Public Safety Telecommunication Certificate and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) VOIP E911 Certificate within one (1) year of employment.
