|Summary of Duties||
A member of the Integrated Absence Management and Vocational Services (IAMVS) team, under the direction of the Manager of Vocational Services and Operations; provides proactive, individualized case management services for employees with occupational and/or non-occupational illnesses and injuries; counsels employees and employing departments on policies, benefits, services and the provision of reasonable accommodation; links employees with appropriate disability benefits including workers’ compensation, short and long-term disability plans, Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) and State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) disability retirement; oversees daily activity of claims; identifies candidates for remain-at-work and return-to-work assistance; determines employee needs to achieve employment goals; coordinates efforts with medical providers, managed care organization (MCO), disability vendor, OSU ancillary services, third party administrators (TPA), and state agencies to assure continuity of services; develops action plans resulting in claim resolution; drafts and implements transitional work agreements and evaluates requests for reasonable accommodation; collaborates with the Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator’s Office, Office of Legal Affairs, HRPs, and employee and labor relations to evaluate accommodation requests and ensure compliance with university, state and federal policies. Provides vocational rehabilitation services for workers’ compensation cases in accordance with Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) Chapter IV guidelines. Analyzes claim data and provides department score carding, including disability trending, return-to-work statistics, and OSHA metrics.
