Director, Workplace Inclusion and Diversity Programs – Senior Extension Associate – ILR Workplace Inclusion and Diversity Education Program

Position is based in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University.

The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for a Director, Workplace Inclusion and Diversity Programs – Senior Extension Associate – ILR Workplace Inclusion and Diversity Education Program.

Our Team:
The ILR Workplace Inclusion and Diversity Education Program (ILR WIDE) is a new platform for diversity and inclusion education: bringing together research, teaching, and organizational practices. This collaborative space creates opportunities for scholars to work alongside teaching specialists, students and organizations.

What you will do:
The position will provide a range of content development, research, training and programming for ILR WIDE in the area of workplace inclusion and diversity. This includes expanding NYC based public programs and creating opportunities for new on-site custom program clients. Many DE&I professional development programs will be delivered in collaboration with the ILR Scheinman Institute. Programs are delivered at the ILR conference center in New York City, client sites throughout North America, as well as through distance learning.

Senior Extension Associate is a full-time, academic, non-tenure track, term position with an initial appointment through June 30, 2025. The position may be re-appointed based on recommendations by the Director and Dean, as well as available funding and work.

What we need:

• Advanced degree (Master's, doctoral, or law degrees) in related subject matter expertise (organizational behavior/change, employment or labor law, human resources/management/business, industrial and labor relations, , economics, workforce development, vocational rehabilitation, occupational medicine/workplace safety and health, education, diversity/inclusion, social psychology, etc.).
• Minimum of seven years developing curricula and teaching courses in DE&I thematic area in college-level environment, delivering educational programming to relevant target audience, and/or conducting research in the thematic content area.
• Relevant professional leadership and network development at the state, regional, national, and/or international areas in relevant professional, trade, policy, or public networks.
• Demonstrated writing ability and scholarly record in the thematic content area (articles in peer-reviewed journals, articles in trade publications, practitioner journals, research and project reports, informational brochures, policy briefs, etc.).
• Minimum of five years of experience in promoting thematic area program teaching, consultation, and research services to regional, state, or national networks through the use of in-person, print, and electronic mediums, with a demonstrated understanding of what works and why.
• Demonstrated experience in leading teams and mentoring, coaching, and supervising teaching and/or research personnel and graduate students; five to seven years preferred.
• Occasional travel required.

You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:

• Terminal degree in related field.
• Minimum of three to five years demonstrated experience in large project management (e.g. several staff and budgets exceeding $500,000).
• Professional credentials in disciplinary area, such as appropriate state and national licensure, certifications, etc.
• Minimum of three to five years demonstrated experience in successful grant writing and grant management.
• Minimum of three to five years of experience with distance learning.
