Summary

The Director leads the day-to-day operations of the Office of Wellness Coordination and Intervention within the Office of  Education Affairs. The Director will partner with key stakeholders to plan, strategize, leverage current resources, and implement programs and services to promote wellness and enhance resilience among Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) students and trainees. The duties of the Director do not include providing mental health treatment. However, clinical expertise, crisis intervention expertise, awareness of current treatment modalities, and maintaining current ethics, licensure, and continuing education requirements are necessary to perform the role's duties.

Job Duties
  • Provides day-to-day leadership of the Office of Wellness Coordination and Intervention (WCI), including managing the annual planning, key initiatives, budgeting, and reporting for the WCI Office.
  • Supervises team members within the WCI office and works collaboratively to support team members and uphold the values of BCM.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates activities, workshops, and events related to wellness topics such as stress management, coping skills, resilience, mindfulness, and mental health resources.
  • As a member of the Wellness Intervention Team (WIT), provides leadership, wellness support, crisis response (case management, not clinical treatment), resource referrals, writes WIT reports, and coordinates official institutional clearances for medical and leave of absence.
  • Manages the Fit for Duty evaluation process, liaising with the BCM schools and serving as the primary vendor contact.
  • Serves as liaison with the schools, departments, and offices regarding wellness-related workshops and trainings.
  • Serves as liaison to contracted vendors that provide support services to the WCI Office and BCM students and trainees.
  • Oversees promoting and marketing programs, activities, and resources to the BCM community. 
  • Maintains WCI Office databases and shared information storage platforms and creates reports and presentations regarding program usage, needs, and student and trainee satisfaction.
  • Oversees website and social media presence for wellness programs.
  • Manages the institutional Well-Being Index assessment and reporting.
  • Develop and implement an evidence-based post-doctoral fellow wellness coaching program.
  • Communicates College policy to individuals served by the WCI office, responds to policy questions, and develops internal procedures to ensure compliance with policy.
  • Participates in the accreditation processes related to the health and well-being of students and trainees.
  • Ensures WCI adheres to ethical guidelines and practices regarding the storage and access to sensitive and confidential information.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Medicine.
  • Texas licensure as a psychologist or M.D., or Licensed Clinical Social Worker with clinical supervision certification

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience working in biomedical, academic, mental health, and/or hospital settings.
  • Proven success and the ability to work effectively with administrators, students, postdoctoral fellows, clinical residents and fellows, staff, and faculty.
