Summary of Duties:
The Office of External Affairs and Government Relations (EAGR) coordinates stakeholder and government engagement for the WSU System for purposes of public policy and public dollars, serving every campus. EAGR maintains a public affairs style program based on a stakeholder engagement model, partnering with communities to solve complex societal problems. This recognizes the value of public-private partnerships to policymakers at all levels. Seattle is Washington’s population and economic center, representing key stakeholders for WSU. As such, the Director for Seattle and Regional Relations serves as the coordinator for stakeholder engagement in the Greater Seattle community, acting as the primary coordinator and point of contact for local government, statewide industry, and public interest boards, and supporting the work of WSU leaders who have board seats.

Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment.
At least eight (8) years of progressive experience in higher education or private business in the public affairs field or public administration required, with a mixture of these types of experience highly desirable.
Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills required.
Demonstrated ability to create original documents and excellent writing and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to build consensus and work successfully with diverse constituents and organizations.
Must have, or ability to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualification:
Master’s degree in related field.
