The University of Florida (UF) seeks a Director for the UF Interdisciplinary Informatics and Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIAIRI). The mission of the IIAIRI, formerly known as the Informatics Institute, is to facilitate and accelerate interdisciplinary research in artificial intelligence, data science, and informatics across the entire University of Florida enterprise. This Institute will leverage existing strengths in data science, informatics, and artificial intelligence within each of our academic units, UF’s HiPerGator supercomputer, and unique partnerships with NVIDIA and other leading companies in AI and high-performance computing. The IIAIRI will partner with UF Research Computing to provide the computational support infrastructure necessary to advance the research efforts across campus. The IIAIRI will also be a key partner with the UF Artificial Intelligence Academic Initiative Center, known as AI2 (AI squared), which is the UF focal point for academic initiatives related to AI and data science.
The Director is expected to facilitate University-wide strategic informatics, data science, and artificial intelligence research through strengthening and building faculty teams, acquiring grants, fund-raising, and recruiting new faculty. The Director will report to the Vice President for Research.

Candidates should have a Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., D.D.S., or equivalent with a strong record of successful, multi-disciplinary research and some administrative experience. The candidate should have a commitment to working with researchers and educators in data science / informatics / artificial intelligence in the areas of algorithms, analysis, and problem domain applications. The academic appointment of the Director is expected to be as an Associate or Full Professor in an appropriate Department and College, based on the candidate’s qualifications and expertise. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and responsibilities.
