Scope of Job
Plan, budget, organize and direct the entire operations of Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC). TMAC projects may include, but are not limited to providing hands-on training and technical assistance to help customers become more profitable via improvements in quality, productivity, and general business operations. Responsible for the day to day operations of TMAC South Texas Region covering South Texas lower 14 counties.
Description of Duties
• Plans, directs and review the activities and operations of TMAC
• Promotes TMAC policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. 
• Directs preparation of directives to TMAC staff outlining policy, program, or operational changes to be implemented. 
• Responsible for annual budget-planning, grant and/or sub-recipient agreement oversight, strategies development and execution. 
• Develops objectives and activities based on TMAC regional goals and metrics. 
• Develops, implements, and provides training policies, standards, guidelines, and security monitoring processes in relation to general control, privacy regulations, and development and operation of the University’s infrastructure. 
• Monitors the formulation and coordination of projects or event specifications, requirements for contracts and proposals, and associated documents. 
• Compiles and submits reports as required by management, state, local, and federal regulatory agencies. 
• Oversees and participates in the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of TMAC staff. 
• Acts as liaison between TMAC and internal/external partners and customers. 
• Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships with internal/external departments/agencies and other organizations. 
• Participates in various committees, professional training, industry conferences, and conventions. 
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received
General supervision from assigned supervisor.
Supervision Given
Direct supervision of assigned staff.
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or in another field related to the program from an accredited University
Preferred Education
Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business or in another field related to the program from an accredited University
Licenses/Certifications
None.
Required Experience
Seven (7) years of experience in a related field, including three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Applicant must be a current UTRGV Employee to be eligible for this position.
Preferred Experience
Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Supply Chain and ISO/TS Certifications.
Applicant currently holds a comparable position at UTRGV.
Equipment
Standard office equipment.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required.
Other
Exceptional planning and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with diverse populations. Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Must have ability to work under pressure, solve problems, and negotiate.
