The Director, Technical Operations, within the faculty specialist series, will be responsible for leading and directing the daily operations of Clark School of Engineering core technical services. These core services include the instructional fabrication labs in the new Clark Hall and design/digital fabrication resources throughout the Clark School (collectively known as Terrapin Works). This position will be responsible for developing the instructional fabrication infrastructure of Clark Hall through optimally coordinating new and existing resources including mechanical, electrical, and open innovation spaces. Important functional aspects include, staffing, logistics/lab scheduling, safety plans, and cost effective operation. The position combines technical, logistical, and administrative leadership, and will supervise a team of specialized subject matter experts. In addition, position must be hands-on and proficient in design with a focus on advanced manufacturing techniques.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline, plus related experience. Experience should include interacting with students and faculty and a demonstrated understanding of lab safety practices. Ability to execute multiple projects, meet scheduled milestones, and meet deliverables on time with high quality outputs.

Breadth in skills and/or experience across multiple disciplines of advanced manufacturing engineering is strongly desired; project management and scheduling experience; process development, prototyping, and/or other relevant design experience. Mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to resolve challenging technical problems
