Expected start date for this position is 03-01-2024. The selected candidate will be required to work primarily on campus, with an option for 1-2 days of remote work possible based on operational needs. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW UC Santa Cruz Summer Session is a leader in the UC system in its growth and development of new courses, programs and curriculum in support of student achievement and success, facilitating 4-year (and even 3-year) graduation. Summer Session is a significant part of UC Santa Cruz, enrolling more than 6,000 students with annual growth expected to continue. Special programs include the Edge programs for fall admit students, increased engagement with area high schools, and other initiatives initiated by the Director. With an entrepreneurial spirit, the department is an active campus collaborator, helping UC Santa Cruz achieve its goals of improved student transition, decreased time-to-degree, graduate student employment, and educational experience opportunities for Slugs in summer The Division of Undergraduate Education (UE) is a complex organization comprised of Campus Advising Coordination, Summer Session, Colleges Academic (Cowell, Stevenson, Crown, Merrill, Kresge, Oakes, Porter, Rachel Carson, College Nine, and Lewis), Enrollment Management (Undergraduate Admissions, Orientation Programs, and Financial Aid), Registrar and the Educational Partnership Center (EPC General, EAOP, K-12 Regional Alliances, Research & Evaluation, K-12 STEM, MESA, CAL-SOAP, CRLP, and GEAR-UP). The division has a budget of $30 million and is comprised of more than 300 staff, students, and faculty personnel, each one of whom helps students to be successful. JOB SUMMARY Under the general direction of the Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education, the Director is responsible for strategic leadership of the UC Santa Cruz Summer Session and of the Summer Session Office. The Director will develop and maintain strong collaboration with all academic departments, colleges, and divisions, and leverage these collaborations in the development of new and refined summer courses, curricula, programs, and initiatives. The Director is responsible for financial planning and budget oversight; implementing academic policies; and ensuring effective use of campus course scheduling and students records IT systems. Responsibilities include curriculum and program development in conjunction with academic departments and colleges; developing and implementing annual marketing strategies; overseeing joint programs with the Teaching and Learning Center in graduate student mentorship and online course development; collaborating with the budget and financial aid offices to determine tuition, fee, and aid policies; facilitating different academic and academic appointment workflows; and working with academic advisors and programs, with undergraduate admissions, and with others, to meet the needs and provide opportunities to their students.
