Student Success and Well-Being – Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities:

The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR) promotes a campus climate of integrity, civility, accountability, and student well-being by providing a wide array of resources, education, and support services for the university community. OSRR also includes Student Conduct and Academic Integrity & Student Care Services. OSRR oversees the Golden Rule Student Handbook, The UCF Creed, the Admission Clearance process, Dean’s Certifications, and Remedial Measures for students involved in Title IX-related incidents.

The Opportunity:

UCF’s Student Success and Well-Being Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities is now accepting applications for a Director, Student Care Services (SCS). This role will oversee the day-to-day management of Student Care Services by streamlining services offered by SCS including administrative actions regarding students of concern, non-clinical case management services, and class absence notices related to student safety and wellbeing. The Director will be charged with coordinating the needs of students experiencing distress before they reach crisis level. The Director is accountable for the coordination of the UCF Cares initiative, the Student of Concern Team, University Crisis Team, and facilitating the administration of any recommendations from teams or university leadership. This position/classification may be moved at managements discretion within the SSWB division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Success and Well-Being or their designee.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include daily oversight of Student Care Services operations including supervision of full-time, Assistant Directors, Student Care Coordinators, Office Support Assistant, hourly employees, staff extensions including overseeing graduate assistantships and internships made available through SSWB.

  • Oversee the triaging of student of concern cases, daily case management operations, and collaboration and consultation with academic deans, faculty, health care providers, UCF police department, Counseling and Psychological Services, families, community partners and campus colleagues.

  • Oversee daily student of concern assignment of cases, class absence notification requests, well-being checks, and care call procedures.

  • Chair the Student of Concern Team which meets weekly to review reports of Students of Concern and make recommendations to the Dean of Students regarding resources and referrals.

  • Assist with the coordination of the University Crisis Team and maintain all records and correspondence of Crisis Team recommendations.

  • Oversee student death response procedures related to currently enrolled student deaths, communication with departments and families, and functional support of the Eternal Knights memorial service and website to provide consistent support for families and members of the UCF community impacted by a student death.

  • Oversee Title IX remedial measures with Office of Institutional Equity.

  • Oversee Student Emergency Intervention services including Homeless Student Team review and Emergency Fund disbursement procedures.

  • Oversee day-to-day expenditures for Student Care Services budget.

  • Lead Student Care Services annual outreach plan including marketing and educational materials, website content, presentations and trainings, and other forms of messaging.

  • Oversee the UCF Cares Initiative including social media, website management, marketing, outreach, and collaborative efforts.

  • Oversee collecting, evaluating, and recording all facts pertaining to reports of student of concern including formulating intervention and action plans to minimize and/or resolve problems, issues or concerns.

  • Maintain an electronic database (records management system) and paperless system.

  • Research best practices for Case Management in relation to OSRR policies and practices.

  • Interpret University policies and update.

  • Oversee a directory of community resources available to students and university employees and create partnerships with external community agencies for students to use. Prepare annual reports, monthly reports, and weekly reports with accurate statistical information.

  • Oversee Student Care Services annual assessment plan and Institutional Effectiveness plan.

  • Update and assist with the Golden Rule Student Handbook review and develop effective policies for a campus wide response affecting Student Rights and Responsibilities.

  • Providing periodic consultation with UCF Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, and Housing and Residence Life and other university constituents on an as needed basis.

  • Provide support and guidance to university troubleshooters in matters pertaining to case management maintenance and access to records, when appropriate, as well as serving as a resource for safety and security issues that arise.

  • Serve as a liaison for the Dean of Students, interacting with all levels of administration, students, and staff regarding Mandated Assessments.

  • Perform other duties as required or deemed appropriate by the Dean of Students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's and 6+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 4+ years of relevant experience with at least 2+ year(s) of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least five to eight years of professional experience in positions with progressive responsibility in a college or university setting.

  • Experience hiring, evaluating, supervising, and training staff.

  • A commitment to excellence, innovation, and ethical standards while fulfilling stated student learning outcomes.

  • Proven effectiveness in relationship building with a wide range of campus constituencies.

  • An operational understanding of excellence in office management, office record security, and organizational efficiency.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in PC computer and mobile devices as well as Microsoft Office products.

  • Knowledge and application of best practices in higher education case management/student support services.

  • Experience working with in a public university setting, including knowledge of laws and policies effecting student rights and privacy.

  • Experience in the preparation and maintenance of student records. Involvement in professional associations and other forms of professional development.

  • Strong public speaking skills.
