Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in related field and five years of related experience.   An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.  Grade EG Salary minimum $48,421, midpoint $66,269, maximum $85,798

Preferred Qualifications

The qualified candidate will have industry and community relations experience preferably in engineering, and/or career services. Strong skills in team building, cross functional collaboration, oral and written communication, project management, and team-leading are a must.

Position Description

The JB Speed School of Engineering (SSoE) is looking to fill the position of Director of Industry Educational Engagement.  This position will be an outward facing component of the school. The primary activities will focus on developing co-operative education and full-time employment opportunities, obtaining funded capstone projects, engaging with the service centers, promoting advisory board participation, and other appropriate industry engagement activities.

Roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with current and new employers/partners including, but not limited to, corporate, government, service, research and academic organizations to increase participation in on-campus activities, particularly the mandatory co-op program and capstone projects, but also including full time employment and engagement with academic departments and core research facilities.
  • Develop reports and statistics to provide on-going assessment of program effectiveness and guidance for future improvements.
  • Improve connections and communications with other university stakeholders (Alumni Association, Development and Industrial Engagement) regarding current and developing industry partners.
  • Connect with state and local business development partners such as Greater Louisville Inc. to provide workforce information regarding engineering disciplines, including supply and demand.
  • Establish and achieve co-op rotation and career placement goals pertaining to the educational mission of SSoE.
  • Obtain industry-sponsored capstone design projects for individual departments. Promote SSoE's capstone program to prospective companies and manage all aspects of the program including planning and executing a Design Day event and Engineering Design and Innovation Showcase.
  • Work with the Dean and Development staff to connect with current and potential members of the J.B. Speed School of Engineering Industrial Board of Advisors.
