As part of a committed team of experienced professionals, the Director, Security Project Engineering oversees Security Assessment & Design activities within NYU Public Safety (DPS) and is the lead for security scope in all University construction and renovation projects. The Director organizes and oversees the processes associated with security technology both in new construction & renovation projects and in security improvement initiatives. Together with the Assistant Director, Security Assessment & Design, this role creates quality physical security designs and collaborates with NYU and external partners to ensure successful project delivery. The Director develops and manages the budgets and procurement associated with new security technology installations for construction and renovation. Representing NYU Public Safety, this role serves as the primary point of contact for all Project Managers and Directors in NYU’s Office of Construction Management. The Director leads the ongoing development of DPS’s physical security technology design standards, cooperating as needed with Subject Matter Experts to support completeness, accuracy, and relevance to applicable industry standards. In coordination with other members of the Public Safety Technical Operations Division, the Director oversees vendor management as it relates to the pool of preferred security integrators invited to bid on capital facilities projects and security improvement initiatives.

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
Preferred Education:
PMP, Master’s Degree, and/or relevant certification(s).
Required Experience:
10 years of progressively responsible work experience.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in a leadership role in security for Higher Education and/or security for construction projects.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Dependable, with demonstrated commitment to client service. Collaborates well, working in a team environment. Proficient written and oral communication. Able to translate technical security concepts to non-technical, non-security project stakeholders. Can interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams. Ability to understand and apply physical security assessment methodologies in the design of building security systems and operations. Can track and organize project and systems documentation. Proactive nature necessary to anticipate and address technical and functional (stakeholder-driven) interdependencies in the design of security systems.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
ISO 31000. ISO 31010. ANSI/ASIS/RIMS RA.1-2015. Communications technology. Genetec security video systems. Lenel access control systems. Motorola radio systems. Voice and digital communications networks.
