The University of Miami is currently seeking a Director, Research Support to work at Soffer Clinical Research center in Miami. The incumbent oversees research and grant activities within the department with the goal of leading or supporting the life cycle of research projects (e.g., clinical trials), including grant development and submissions, protocol development, study implementation, study close-out, research dissemination, and development of interim and annual reports for study personnel and sponsors.  The Director, Research Support will also oversee or perform administrative functions, including recruitment, management, and training of research personnel, study budget development and management (with support from department-specific research administrators), and engagement with university administrators and staff to execute research-specific deliverables. 

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                                                                  

  • Develops reports summarizing research activity within the department on a regular basis.

  • Maintains current knowledge of institutional and external policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

  • Serves as liaison to federal agencies and other funding sources.

  • Creates reports detailing grant spending and ensures that investigators are appropriately using funding.

  • Oversees research initiatives and database personnel.

  • Monitors projects to ensure positive project evaluations, future sustainability, and benefits.

  • Reviews monthly institutional reports of research accounts and works with investigators to resolve discrepancies. Screens department budget, assists in the assignment of expenditures, and identifies areas of opportunity for cost-saving.

  • Participates in various University research councils, committees, and research organizations.

  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. 

  • Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
