Brandeis University seeks an experienced professional with a sophisticated understanding of the cultural and social causes of sexual assault to provide services to survivors and to coordinate prevention efforts in the campus community. In the role of Director, Sexual Assault Services & Prevention, this person will oversee prevention efforts for all undergraduate and graduate students, coordinate advocacy services for survivors of sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking, complying with Title IX and Clery Act regulations, serving as a liaison to campus partners including student organizations, and conducting outreach and education events to promote a healthy campus environment. The Director serves as a key collaborator for all health and promotion efforts in support of Brandeis students and reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs.

Key Responsibilities:

Education & Training: The Director is responsible for leading in-person trainings for a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students. The Director oversees online training on sexual misconduct for all students. As well, the Director aids in prevention efforts across campus on an as-needed basis, including training for faculty and staff in areas of concern.

Communications: The Director should be prepared to manage a campus-wide communications campaign designed to provide sexual violence prevention education to the students in accordance with requirements under the Clery Act and best practices within the field of prevention education. In addition, the Director oversees management of OPS & RCC websites, Facebook pages, and dissemination of collateral materials.

Program Evaluation & Research: The Director works closely with the VPSA’s Office and the Office of the Provost to conduct appropriately timed campus climate surveys on sexual misconduct; attends to the need for ongoing program evaluation of all OPS & RCC programs; and assists in the analysis of evaluation materials for continuous program improvement.

Relationship-building and Professional Development & Initiatives: The Director is responsible for maintaining excellent working relationships with relevant campus partners, such as the Dean of Students’ Office, Title IX Office, Brandeis Counseling Center, Department of Athletics, and Department of Community Living. The Director should work to maintain connections with the local rape crisis center (BARCC) and other area resource agencies.

Policy Work and Service to the Campus Community: The Director serves as a part of a team responsible for providing edits to relevant University policies and drafting policies relevant to Title IX prevention education and the role of Responsible Employees as needed. The Director will serve on Title IX Task Force and may be invited to serve on other health and wellness-related initiatives, hiring committees, and other campus-wide efforts as needed.

Advocacy: The Director provides crisis counseling and support for individual student survivors.

Supervision and Administrative Work: The Director may  supervises a professional staff member as well as interns and student staff in the Office of Prevention Services (OPS). The Director is responsible for oversight of OPS & RCC staff hiring, evaluation and staff development in the form of retreats, trainings, and support for ongoing education for this team. The Director manages the OPS/RCC budget and pursues grant opportunities on behalf of the office and the University. In addition, the Director manages administrative aspects of hiring, payroll, and physical plant issues. Approximate of time spent: 10%

Skills & Qualifications:

Master's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Women's, Gender, and Sexuality or relevant field Work Experience: 5-8 years with 3-5 years' supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a college/university setting; health promotion/communication skills; experience collaborating with sexual assault and/or domestic violence community organizations; supervisory skills; experience teaching college-level courses; budget skills; grant writing skills; multilingual competency
