Department Summary | The Institute for Health Disparities (IHD) conducts research, training and community outreach in the areas of minority health, health disparities and workforce diversity. Constituting the IHD are the Texas Center for Health Disparities, National Research Mentoring Network, Texas CEAL Consortium, Diversity Training Programs and the NIMHD Endowment. |
Position Overview | The Institute for Health Disparities (IHD) is supported by extramural grants and awards from local, state and national funding agencies. IHD is seeking a candidate who will provide high-level support to the senior leadership at IHD in all aspects of managing various activities and programs of IHD. The Director of Operations will be a strategic thought partner and assist with the management and oversight of specific Institute-based research, education, training and community programs, initiatives and projects. This position will work closely with the Vice President and Executive Director of IHD, as well as other financial and administrative units across the campus and throughout the University of North Texas system. This position is on campus of UNT Health Science Center, and reports to Dr. Jamboor Vishwanatha, Regents Professor and Vice President for Minority Health and Health Disparities. |

Job Duties
o | Serves as the operational director of the IHD administration and provides priorities to the Directors of the Institute on various issues related to personnel, budgeting and programmatic activities and manages day-to-day functions for IHD activities |

o | Develop and monitor strategic planning for the institute |

o | Fiscal management and budget monitoring of Institute projects |

o | Oversees IHD finances with respect to grant funding, OTA funding and contract funding |

o | Recruitment, supervision and management of IHD staff and faculty |

o | Prepare annual budgets; forecast 5-year budget projections considering all grants/projects in preparation of the annual budget process and internal planning |

o | Assist with conception, drafting, review and submission of grant proposals |

o | Direct review and editing of writing products, including research reports, policy documents and publicity material. |
