Job Description:
The Director of the Office of Military and Veteran Services (OMVS) is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of all functions of OMVS. The Director designs, implements, administers, maintains, and assesses programs and services for military service members, student veterans, and eligible dependents. The Director advises student veterans and eligible dependents in accordance with federal, state, and system wide regulations. The Director serves as an advocate for and representative of military service members, veterans, and eligible dependents on campus, should have demonstrated knowledge of military veteran issues pertaining to successful educational development, evidence of professional development activities specifically in veteran services, working knowledge of Enrollment Manager software, and the ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with graduate coursework in higher education, counseling and guidance or related field.
- Four years of professional experience in a student services program
- Previous experience providing services and programs to military service members, veterans, and eligible dependents in a higher education setting
- Knowledge of student success theory/application and an understanding of life experiences of veteran student populations.
- Knowledge of student development strategies and high-impact practices.
- Strong administrative, logistical, interpersonal, public speaking, and communication skills. Ability to build relationships across campus with faculty, staff and students.
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Ability to maintain an extensive level of confidentiality.
- Provides oversight and manage compliance for all veteran education benefits
- Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion; ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse campus population
Preferred:
- Master's degree in counseling and guidance, higher education, college student personnel or related field.
- Two years working in military and veteran services in a higher education setting.
- Licenses / Certificates: Enrollment Manager
Additional Information:
This is a regular, full-time position with the normal office hours of 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. However, this position sometimes works extra hours to complete important tasks. The number of months worked per year is 12.
