Job Title: Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Summary of Position:    The Director of Admissions provides leadership and direction to the undergraduate admissions team, responsible for recruiting and enrolling students for the IWU Marion residential campus. The Director of Admissions leads a team of recruiters with a focus on maximizing talent and resources to serve well and meet or exceed annual enrollment goals.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • 50% Leadership of the Recruitment Team
    • Identify, hire, and develop a team of individuals who will aggressively pursue their individual and team enrollment goals
    • Provide encouragement and resources to help individuals excel in recruitment
    • Develop a culture that embraces growth and practices accountability 
  • 15% Engage the Campus Community
    • Collaborate with faculty, coaches, and departmental leaders to support recruitment events and assist them in reaching their enrollment goals
    • Participate in committees as assigned and represent the role and needs of Admissions 
  • 15% Direct the Core Leadership Team
    • Provide supervision and support to the office leaders for the campus visit program, operations, technology, and the student tele-counseling program
    • Lead a weekly meeting of the team to share updates, support one another, and maintain focus of recruitment
    • Benchmark and utilize key data to set priorities and direct recruitment activity
  • 15% Collaborate with Enrollment Management Leaders
    • Report weekly and monthly benchmarks and identify recruitment activities being utilized to develop the funnel and meet enrollment goals
    • Assist with the development of the annual recruitment plan
    • Provide ideas, feedback and strategy opportunities as we collaborate with Marketing to develop materials, web content, events, etc.
    • Assist with budget management for Admissions operations 
  • 5% Learn and Grow as a Recruitment Leader
    • Take responsibility for your growth as a professional and as an enrollment leader through intentional activity (reading, peer group engagement, mentoring, conferences, etc.)
    • Ask questions - Receive and use feedback 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Master's degree preferred

Experience

  • The ideal candidate has a passion for Christian higher education, for developing staff, and embraces the beliefs and positions of the Wesleyan Church
  • Candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience in higher education recruitment, communications, or sales with supervisory and leadership experience

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication
  • Experience with database and CRM systems
  • Ability to lead a complex team toward achieving established goals
  • Experience with budget management
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Strong sense of initiative and ability to lead projects
  • Ability and willingness to mentor staff and help them grow
