DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES AT CHARLES RIVER CAMPUS, School of Social Work, Academic Affairs (24500013630314)
The Boston University School of Social Work is ranked among the top 4% of social work programs nationally and holds a strong commitment to social justice and anti-racist programming. Anti-oppressive practice is a core component of the BUSSW strategic plan and a foundational competency in social work education. The Director of Student Services at the Charles River Campus (CRC) is primarily responsible for providing support to BUSSW MSW students at CRC. In this capacity, the Director works with students, faculty, and staff to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that centers equity and justice and promotes engagement with and retention of a diverse student body. Specific responsibilities include developing, identifying, and providing resources in support of student academic success and well-being, serving in key advisory roles on school committees, collaborating in planning of student-focused events, and managing student-related crisis situations. The Director reports to the Sr. Assistant Dean of Programs & Digital Learning and works closely with Assistant and Associate Deans on all aspects of student life at the CRC campus.

Qualifications:
- Master of Social Work or related degree required; PhD welcome.
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in student-facing, administrative role(s)
- Successful track record of supporting anti-oppressive social work practice and social justice in higher education
- Demonstrated commitment to student success
- Strong understanding of student affairs best practices and trends, including disability services, student wellness, and code of conduct.
- Compassionate and engaging communication style
- Inclusive and supportive approach to student engagement
- Ability to communicate and interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, and external constituencies, with a strong student-centered orientation.
- Ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced work environment and to react professionally, calmly, and effectively in emergency situations.
- Strong teamwork, organizational, project management, and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of student records in compliance with laws, including Family Educational Rights and Privacy (FERPA).
- Knowledge of applicable statutes and regulations, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
- Budget management skills
