The Director of Student Health Services is responsible for the strategic planning, leadership, and administrative operations for multi-campus student health services and a significant contributor to well-being initiatives at the University of North Georgia.  The Director provides supervision of all clinical protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with best medical practices and appropriate laws, rules, and regulations. This person supervises a team of qualified healthcare providers and serves as the lead contact for campus and community partners for student care. This person performs evaluations of patients, develops treatment plans and dispenses medications as needed.  Will need to travel between campuses to perform duties. 

  • Supervises the operation of UNG Student Health Services, ensuring that staff are well-trained in medical protocols and procedures and are in compliance with best medical practices and appropriate laws, rules, and regulations. Responsible for hiring/training and ensuring centers are staffed and operational based on emerging trends and data analysis Conduct ongoing review of clinical protocols and ensure updates are shared with staff in a timely manner Develop and provide appropriate in-service programs for staff. Directs performance improvement initiatives impacting patient experience, quality of care, and patient safety. Addresses concerns and/or complaints in a timely manner.  Conducts annual performance reviews. 
  • Participates in University and Division efforts to enhance student success programs and initiatives. 
  • Develop policies and protocols for Dispensary and Laboratory.  Provide oversight for Dispensary and Laboratory operations including ordering and securing.  Manages contracts with internal and external partners and vendors. Maintain compliance with CLIA. 
  • Serve as a health-care provider as needed, seeing patients, dispensing medications, educating/consulting with students regarding prescription medications, lab results, as well as consulting with physicians and providing referrals as needed. Will typically have increased clinical duty in June and July. 
  • Serve as the lead for the electronic medical record (Point and Click) and ensure that SHS leverages technology to enhance operations in a safe and ethical manner. 
  • Oversees the budget and ensures SHS provides high-quality, cost-effective clinical care. 
  • Actively engage in UNG-wide wellness strategic planning and serve as a liaison for campus partners, including the athletic department, Corps of Cadets, Behavioral Intervention Team, Residence Life, and other community health care providers and outside agencies, etc., on matters of student health and wellness. 
  • Master's in Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant from an accredited institution. 
  • Administrative skills and at least five years of experience specific to the duties listed above is required. 
  • Full current licensure in the state of Georgia from Nursing Board or Georgia Composite Medical Board, Board Certified and BLS certified.
