Friends University is seeking to fill the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Success position in Wichita Kansas. This position Provides leadership for student-athlete academic support services by assisting all Friends University student-athletes to achieve academic and personal success at the University by providing support services designed to meet their unique needs and ensuring student-athlete compliance with all NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics), Conference and University regulations. Provide leadership and programming for student-athlete academic success for all student athletes, including those academically at-risk. Led early alert and retention activities for all student-athletes including the 2-week, 5-week, and 9-week progress reports; communication between coaches, faculty, and students; and summer academic programming for student-athletes. Supervise Graduate Assistants and Student Study Hall Assistance. Work hours average 45-50 per week. Moderate evening and/or weekend hours are required. Attendance at some University events will be expected.

Skills & Requirements

Three years of experience in progressively responsible positions in student retention, student programming or enrollment management recommended. Strong understanding of traditional undergraduate students and student-athletes is important. Budget management experience helpful. Computer literacy required, with knowledge of Sungard Banner and Microsoft Office Suite software preferred.

A bachelor's degree is required; master's or higher preferred.

Must have excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills and the ability to complete detail-oriented projects related to assigned duties. Must have demonstrated ability to function independently, as a member of a team, or as the leader of a team. Sensitivity to diverse populations' needs is important and a passion for student success. Data gathering and analysis are important qualities.
