ECHO-Chicago (Extension for Community Health Outcomes) is the longest-running urban ECHO program in the world. It leverages existing assets by bringing together community health centers (CHCs) and academic medical centers for collaborative, curriculum-based, iterative, case-based learning. As a result, providers are able to integrate evidence-based practice into care and patients are able to receive state-of-the-art care in their primary medical home.


Job Summary
 

ECHO-Chicago is based in the Department of Pediatrics and works to address issues of healthcare access in adults and children living in underserved urban communities. The Executive Director for ECHO-Chicago will apply experience and skills to lead the development of grant and research proposals, preparation of presentations and peer-reviewed publications, and work with the team to ensure successful operations of the program. This position is also responsible for independently leading and partnering with investigators to evaluate and execute opportunities to grow the program both nationally and internationally. Additionally, the Executive Director will work to set long-range plans for sustaining ECHO-Chicago and will establish cross departmental and divisional relationships. The Executive Director will represent the program within the international MetaECHO community and work to build relationships and collaborate with other ECHO programs across the state, country and internationally.
As the Director of Special Programs for the Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, this individual will be responsible for working with investigators in the section to support high-level operation of programs within the section. This includes the Care2Prevent program which works to radically reduce HIV transmission events through the provision of comprehensive HIV treatment and prevention services for HIV positive, LGBTQ, and underserved youth communities, primarily focused on the South Side of Chicago. The Director of Special Programs will apply experience and skills to lead efforts to secure external funding, steward pre- and post-award processes, and provide guidance to investigators to support operations, research, and strategic planning.
This position is eligible for an alternative work arrangement.
This at-will position is partially funded by contractual grant funding which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds and satisfactory job performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership for ECHO-Chicago and programs within the Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases in partnership with investigators and Section Chief. 

  • Develops strategies to identify and cultivate new donors and funding streams. 

  • Develops and writes proposals for extramural funding and collaborates with the central development office, departmental research management, and central research administration to submit funding proposals. 

  • Works with investigators to ensure projects are meeting milestones and achieving outcomes. 

  • Works with investigators to develop and build relationships with cross departmental and cross divisional collaborators and stakeholders. 

  • Represent ECHO-Chicago at national and international meetings to foster opportunities for collaboration and elevate the program’s profile within the larger ECHO community. 

  • Provide training and mentorship for program staff to improve operations and support staff development. 

  • Oversees activities related to database creation, data collection and analysis including evaluation of database management systems within the institution and those available commercially. 

  • Works with Investigators and their research teams to develop data collection materials and databases and provide input on direction for data analysis. 

  • Provide training and mentorship for research support staff including research coordinators/specialists. 

  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, publications, and presentations.  

  • Manages program operations and administrative functions which may include planning and scheduling, program evaluation, policy implementation, personnel administration, budget, marketing, fundraising and proposal development. 

  • Manages the dissemination, interpretation and application of program policies and recommends or makes exceptions. 

  • Contributes to design of program content, policies and strategic planning efforts. 

  • Performs other related work as needed. 


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

  • Master’s degree in related field (public health, epidemiology, public policy, health studies, or social sciences).
