Position Description:

The Department of Neurology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a board-certified/eligible sleep medicine physician, to be appointed as a Clinical (non-Tenure) or Tenure Track faculty member at any rank. This individual will be charged with leadership of our progressive and growing sleep division.

The UIHC Sleep Disorder Center, a component of a multi-disciplinary program, includes an active outpatient clinic, an eight bed outpatient sleep laboratory, portable sleep monitoring system (for inpatient and research studies), home sleep apnea testing, and ACGME accredited fellowship programs in Sleep Medicine and Clinical Neurophysiology.  The Iowa City VA Hospital is across the street from the UIHC Sleep Lab and has a fully equipped multi-bed sleep lab and sleep disorders clinic.  A joint appointment with the VAMC is available, which would offer eligibility for VA grants and for a J1 visa waiver.

Appointment will be on the non-tenure clinical track, or the tenure track, open rank. A clinical track position is a 1.0 FTE and consists of 80% clinical, and 20% academic/administrative time. A tenure track position is a 1.0 FTE and academic time is negotiable depending on grant support. Clinical work for this position will include teaching and patient care within the Department of Neurology.

All Neurologists who are members of the faculty group share weekday, weekend and holiday coverage of the inpatient and consult services. We will work closely with the candidate to optimize his/her time to work in any preferred area of interest.  The overall philosophy of this neurology department is the provision of comprehensive patient-centered care in our inpatient and outpatient settings and in a variety of unique subspecialty practice settings within our healthcare system.

The Department of Neurology is made up of more than 40 full-time faculty members who provide local, national and international leadership across a range of neurology areas, including Cognitive Neurology, Cerebrovascular Disease, Clinical Electrophysiology, Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Neuroimmunology/MS, Neuromuscular Disease, Neuropsychology, and Sleep Disorders.
