Job Summary 

The Director of Recruitment, for the College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) is responsible for engagement and recruitment of prospective students, growing applications and yield of programs, and coordinating comprehensive recruitment activities, including assisting in the development and execution of a comprehensive recruitment plan and coordination of targeted recruitment and marketing tactics for all national and international outreach efforts for CCI at Drexel University. The Director, supervising a team of staff recruiters will lead efforts and produce outcomes that will result in increased applications, enrollment growth, increased diversity, selectivity, and rising yields. The Director reports to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Operations and will work with the department heads, associate department heads program managers, advisors, program directors, and college leadership to ensure a comprehensive approach to the recruitment and admission of students into CCI and joint programs.

The Director is expected to be a student-focused professional with knowledge of regional, national, and international recruiting and marketing trends in higher education enabling them to increase enrollment and the quality of students across all CCI programs.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies, outreach communications, recruitment events and oversee the enrollment process for undergraduate, and graduate programs at CCI.
  • Represent CCI professionally and ethically by engaging and participating at external domestic and international recruiting events, meetings, and conferences, including delivery of promotional presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative, cooperative relationships with feeder institutions and key faculty and staff partners across campus, including department heads, associate department heads, program directors, and the Office of Enrollment Management and Student Success, to highlight all CCI and joint programs.
  • Conduct quantitative and analytical evaluations of all enrollment and recruitment efforts to measure their effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with school leadership and Drexel University enrollment offices to analyze demographic trends and anticipate recruitment needs, coordinate recruitment and marketing activities including promotional materials for CCI and recruitment-related web content and social media.
  • In collaboration with the Communications and Marketing department, assist in the content and/or development of recruitment marketing materials. Respond to extensive email and telephone inquiries from prospective students and ensure accurate and timely processing of student communication and applications through the Customer Relationship Management System
  • Outreach to traditional, non-traditional and international student markets.
  • In concert with the Sr Associate Dean for Academic Affairs & Operations, establish and help to achieve enrollment goals and objectives for all students.
  • Develop processes to capture and assess stakeholder input related to the effectiveness of outreach and recruitment strategies.
  • As Director, coordinate, manage, supervise and participate, with the recruitment team in the following activities/responsibilities:
    • Represent the CCI at Drexel University-sponsored recruitment events and meetings.
    • Communicate unique program benefits, admission processes/requirements and financial planning/scholarship information.
    • Develop an extensive understanding of the College's academic programs, facilities, faculty, academic support staff and initiatives as well as of the University's in order to provide prospective and admitted students and parents with an understanding of academic majors, admission procedures, scholarship opportunities, and other subjects of concern to prospective students.
    • Develop, coordinate, host and manage volunteers at the CCI recruitment events such as campus visits, fairs, and virtual sessions (on-campus and off-campus)
    • Oversee the integration, in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Academic Advising and Student Success, of academic advising participation in graduate and undergraduate recruitment events (i.e., open house, accepted students, and transfer days).
    • Cultivate relationships with various stakeholders outside of the CCI, including other colleges and schools at Drexel.
    • Provide frequent data reports for dissemination amongst CCI leadership, , year-end reports, accreditation and other related functions.
    • Forecast and manage recruitment budget needs.
    • Support graduation and end-of-year activities at the CCI and other program initiatives as required.

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent  
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in higher education student recruitment at managerial level.

     Other requirements:

  • Five years of higher education experience student recruitment at a managerial level, with demonstrated professional experience in developing innovative recruitment strategies, data-driven admissions, and effective communications.
  • Flexible, collaborative and have a desire to work with diverse populations, including traditional and non-traditional (e.g., career changers, adult learners w/families, etc.), international and online students.
  • Ability to analyze data and use data to make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to travel (domestically and internationally) to external events and professional meetings and ability and willingness to work non-standard/varied work hours as required.  Able to work on weekends and evenings, travel frequently, have reliable transportation.
  • Experience using creative and innovative strategies to recruit a diverse student body for both undergrad and graduate degrees.
  • Experience developing recruitment initiatives and creating recruitment plans for online and on-campus programs.
  • Effective presentation skills as well as communication skills in writing and public speaking.
  • Position requires the ability to stand, reach and lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Experience working with undergraduate, graduate/professional and international student populations.
  • Well-organized, self-starting, quick-learning and hard-working multi-tasker who can thrive in a fast-paced, complicated, ambitious, and collegial environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to succeed in extensive one-on-one situations and presentations to larger group gatherings of prospective students, parents, and online constituencies. The successful candidate will have the interpersonal skills necessary to develop and work with an extensive network of academic leaders, faculty, and administrators.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trends and new developments in the higher education marketplace and innovative approaches to marketing academic programs.
  • Strategic thinker who can proactively lead recruitment efforts to position Drexel’s CCI as competitive in the higher education market.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Survey, evaluation, assessment, and analytic skills.
  • Knowledge of student lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of higher education laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ability to effectively manage volunteer and student workers.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in involving stakeholders (students/alumni/faculty) in the recruitment process.
  • Experience with international, undergraduate, and graduate students, and alumni.
  • Experience with higher education software systems such as: Banner, Hyperion, Qualtrics, Slate, SalesForce, and Centralized Application Service (CAS), application management systems.

Additional Information 

This position is classified as Exempt grade M. Compensation for this grade ranges from $75,200 to $112,790 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
